 Abstract
During their normal or abnormal work, the mechanical sealing systems are submitted to wear, leading to fluid leaks outside the device. The most affected elements of a mechanical seal are the sliding rings, which are subdued to friction under axial forces exerted by both compression mechanism and fluid pressure in the stuffing box. This paper studies the possibilities of reconditioning wearing elements of mechanical seals, as a reliable and effectiveness technical solution to increase their working life.

 Rezumat
Introducerea sistemelor de etanşare mecanică a constituit o revoluţie tehnică remarcabilă, care a permis eliminarea pierderilor de fluide din utilajele dotate cu arbori rotitori. În timpul funcţionării normale sau anormale, etanşările mecanice sunt supuse uzării, cele mai afectate fiind inelele alunecătoare, care sunt supuse forţelor axiale exercitate atât de mecanismul de comprimare, cât şi de presiunea fluidului din cutia de etanşare. Obiectul de studiu al acestei lucrări îl constituie posibilitatea de recondiţionare a inelelor de etanşare care nu prezintă defecte majore şi ale căror uzuri se încadrează în limite admisibile, folosind procedeul de lepuire.
